Do you reserve the plate for me?
No. We tell you the moment it's free. You reserve it at your county tax collector, in person or online where the county allows it.
When do plates become available?
Florida releases them in one batch just before midnight Eastern, most of them on a weekday — about 7 in 10 lately. About 2 in 3 grabs happen on a weekday between 8 AM and 5 PM ET, but we have seen one at 12:53 AM. Our alert gives you the head start either way.
How do you know when a release happened?
We only claim a release time when the plate was checked within the half hour before it, which is why the midnight figure rests on 31 releases rather than all 439. The rest we find on the next sweep, and you are emailed either way.
Do released plates stay free?
Most do, but not the ones people want. Of the 439 plates released since March, 93 have been taken back and 342 are still sitting there. Look at it the other way: only 342 of the 190,509 plates free today were ever taken by anyone — almost everything free was simply never wanted. That is why it pays to watch for yours by name.
What happens if I stop paying?
If a payment fails, your list switches off right away. If you cancel, it runs to the end of the month you paid for. Either way your plates stay saved, and restarting a plan switches them back on.
Can I change plans?
Any time from your billing page. Move to a smaller plan and your oldest plates stay on; the rest pause. Nothing is deleted.

Florida only for now.
